Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy describes how codeliveshare owned by Sunderbans tech (operated from Bengaluru, India) collects, uses, and protects personal data when you use the Service. It applies to anonymous visitors, named account holders, and Pro subscribers. We aim to comply with India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (DPDP Act), the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the UK GDPR, the California Consumer Privacy Act as amended by the CPRA (CCPA/CPRA), and other applicable consumer data-protection laws, wherever they apply to you.

Our principles

We depend on a small set of rules that shape every other section of this policy:

  • Collect the minimal required. We collect only the data that is required for us to provide you the service. We only collect email-id, display name and avatar URL for named accounts, and only the data related to your sessions and code execution that is necessary to operate the service, enforce limits, and provide custom services to subscribed users.
  • Never sell your data. We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data, and we do not "share" it for cross-context behavioural advertising as those terms are defined under the CCPA/CPRA.
  • Only trusted processors. We share data only with vetted sub-processors needed to operate the Service (listed below), under contracts that bind them to use your data solely on our instructions and to protect it to standards equivalent to ours.
  • Disclose if law directs us We may disclose data if required by valid legal processes from public authorities, government institutions or consumer courts.

What data do we collect?

  • Account data. If you create a named account, we store your email address and, depending on how you sign in, your display name and avatar URL (Google, GitHub) or a hashed password (email/password).
  • Session content. Code, and execution output you produce on the service are stored in our database to support persistence and real-time collaboration.
  • Execution metadata. When you run code, we log language, run duration, resource usage, exit status, and the session it was associated with. We use this to enforce limits, prevent abuse, and provide custom services to subscribed users.
  • Billing data. If you subscribe to Pro plan, Polar (our Merchant of Record) processes your payment. We safely store your billing details and transaction history and do not share them with any other third party.

How do we maintain your privacy?

  • We do not sell your personal data.
  • We do not show third-party advertising to Pro subscribers or to anyone viewing a Pro-owned session. Free-tier and anonymous viewers of non-Pro sessions may see ads
  • We do not read or share the contents of your private sessions (a feature available to Pro subscribers)) except as needed to operate the service or where required by law.

What do we use your data for?

  • To provide, maintain, and improve the Service.
  • To enforce tier limits, prevent abuse, protect the Service and its users.
  • To send transactional emails (welcome, billing, security, service-critical notices).
  • To send product updates and marketing email only if you have opted in. You can opt out at any time from the email or your account.
  • To comply with legal obligations.

Data retention

Session content and execution output follow the retention rules in our Terms of Service. Real-time collaborative sessions remain available while active and for a short period after they go idle; signed-in users can save sessions to keep them (up to 20 on the free tier and 1000 on Pro). Saved runs do not expire and are retained indefinitely, and you control who can access any session or saved run through the permissions you set on its link. Account data persists until you delete your account; we then delete it from active systems within 15 days, except where retention is required for legal, accounting, or abuse-prevention purposes (typically from few weeks up to a few years for billing records under Indian tax law). Diagnostic logs are retained for up to 90 days.

Your rights

Subject to applicable law, you have the right to access, correct, delete, export, or restrict processing of your personal data, and to withdraw consent at any time. To exercise these rights, email support@codeliveshare.com from the address associated with your account. We will respond within 3 working days. If you are in the EU/EEA/UK, you also have the right to lodge your concerns with your local data protection authority. We respond to all valid requests, but please note that we may need to verify your identity before taking action on account-related requests, and we may not be able to honor certain requests that are manifestly unfounded or excessive under applicable law.

Third-party processors

We rely on the following sub-processors that handle personal data on our behalf:

  • Supabase — authentication and managed database hosting.
  • Polar — payments, invoicing, tax (Merchant of Record)

We also use third-party infrastructure providers for hosting, metrics, and uptime monitoring; these do not receive session content or named-account profile data. If we add new sub-processors that handle personal data (for example, a transactional email provider, an error-tracking service, or a product-analytics service), we will update this list before they go live. All vendors process data on our behalf under their own privacy terms and, where applicable, standard contractual clauses for international transfers.

International transfers

Personal data may be processed in countries other than your own, including the United States and the European Union. Where we transfer data out of your jurisdiction, we rely on the safeguards provided by our sub-processors (standard contractual clauses, adequacy decisions, or equivalent mechanisms).

Children

The Service is not intended for children under age of 6, or under the age of digital majority in your jurisdiction. We allow children to register with parental consent, and parents are responsible for how their children make use of the platform safely without exposing their personal details. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal data you don't intend to share, please contact us at support@codeliveshare.com. We will take steps to safely delete such data and ensure the child's privacy is protected.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent change. Material changes will be announced in the Service and, where required by law, by email.
